Tina Blakley returns in 2019-2020 for her ninth season as the Head Coach for the Lion’s Cross Country and Track & Field team. Coach Blakley is committed to the overall achievements of the team by cultivating an environment in which the athletes experience success academically as well as athletically. Her team strives to maintain a 3.0 or higher GPA and many of the athletes receive academic honors as well as recognition by the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) for their academic excellence.
Since becoming the Head Coach in 2011, she has been devoted to building a competitive Cross Country and Track & Field program that consists of dedicated student athletes who continue to achieve personal bests in their events, break school records, place in their events at the HCAC Championships and strive to qualify for the NCAA Division III National Championships.
She is passionate about encouraging her athletes to achieve their personal goals and is an advocate for educating athletes about injury prevention, cross training, nutrition, sport psychology and strength & conditioning. Coach Blakley collaborates with the MSJ Athletic Trainers to ensure each athlete on her team has an overall balance in their training and competition.
Coach Blakley received a degree in Sport Management from the Mount in May 2015. While at the Mount, she maintained a 3.80 GPA, was on the Dean’s List and a member of the Sigma Beta Delta International Honor Society in Business, Management and Administration. She is a USATF certified Level 1 and Level 2 Track & Field Coach, as well as an AFAA certified personal trainer. Her personal interests involve strength training, long distance running and competing in multi-event endurance races.
