Reynoldsburg, Ohio – The Mount St. Joseph women's tennis team was on the road Monday and fell to the Crusaders of Capital 6-3 in a hard fought contest. The Lions entered the contest with a 1-4 record while this was the Crusaders first match-up of the season.
The Lions went 1-2 in the doubles section for the day. The duo of freshman Erin Kallmeyer (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) and senior Kelsey Knodell (Delaware, Ohio/Rutherford B. Hayes) took match two from the Crusaders with a 8-3 victory.
In the singles portion of the contest, two Lions were able to walk away with victories. Hannah Broermann (Milan, Ind./Milan) defeated her opponent in both sets; with a 7-6 score in a tie-breaking victory, and a 6-3 victory in the second during the number two singles match. Katie Fellinger (North Bend, Ohio/Taylor) got the victory in the number four match, defeating her opponent by a score of 6-1 and 6-2. Erin Kallmeyer would have a close contest in the third singles match, putting up a hard fought match, but would ultimately fall in the third set to the Crusader.
