HANOVER, Ind. - The Mount St. Joseph women's lacrosse team travelled to take on the Panthers of Hanover College in a conference matchup. The Lions were able to make their mark on the board but not enough to take home the win. The final score went in favor of the Panthers as they finished on top with the final score of 20-5.
The Mount would sprinkle three goals throughout the first half with the first two coming from Megan Dancer (Springboro,Ohio/Springboro) off of free position shots. The third goal of the half would come from another free position shot as Olivia Hocker (Liberty Township,Ohio/Lakota West) would line up and get one past the Panthers goalie. The Lions would find themselves trailing behind Hanover at the half 3-10.
As the second half came and went The Mount was able to make two more goals. The first coming from Ashley Costa (Milford,Ohio/Milford) off of an assist from Dancer. The Panthers were able to double their score in the second half but not before Hocker would make an attack once again with an assist from Paige Naber (Loveland,Ohio/Loveland).
On the defensive side of the field Emma Lickert (Centerville,Ohio/Centerville) lead the team in ground balls with eight and caused turnovers with three. Goalie Sara Winsted (Ross,Ohio/Ross) would step up and make 10 saves for The Lions.
The Lions will be back in action on Wednesday, April 24 as they take on the Grizzlies of Franklin College in the last home game of the season at 7PM.
