TIFFIN, Ohio - The Mount St. Joseph University women's lacrosse team travelled to Heidelberg University to take on the Student Princes. The Lions made a second half comeback but it wasn't enough and they fell 18-8.
In the first half the Student Princes went on an early run and went up six goals on The Mount. The first Lion to score was Megan Dancer (Springboro,Ohio/Springboro) off of a free position shot to put The Mount on the board. Joy Glacken (Cleves,Ohio/Taylor) would be the next mark on the board getting herself an unassisted goal. Heidelberg would get a trio of goals before Gabriella Halfhill (Liberty Township,Ohio/Lakota West) would go in unassisted and get a goal herself. The Student Princes would score three more before the half ended with the score of 12-3.
In the second half The Mount had a lot of ground to make up and struck first when Halfhill got another ball past the goalie for the first goal of the second half with an assist from Brianna Brannon (Cincinnati,Ohio/Seton). Brannon wanted a piece of the action and snagged a goal herself after another pair of goals by Heidelberg. The Student Princes would get another quick streak of five goals before The Lions could get their footing. The Mount would hit their stride late in the game with a three unassisted goal streak starting with Brannon, followed by Olivia Hocker (Liberty Township,Ohio/Lakota West) and finishing with Glacken to bring the game to an end. The Lions could not make up the deficit and the game finished with the final score of 18-8.
