DELHI, OH - The Mount St. Joseph University women's lacrosse team faced off against the Cardinals of Otterbein College. The Lions found themselves with the lead early on in the first half until the Cardinals took control of the game. The Lions would fall to the Cardinals 20-3 bringing their overall record to 1-2.
The game started off strong in The Lions favor, as they were able to score two goals early after the start of the game. Senior Joy Glacken (Cleves, OH / Taylor) found the back of the net first for The Lions just five minutes into the half. Less than a minute later, Sophomore Gabriella Halfhill (Liberty Township, OH / Lakota West) found herself scoring off of an assist by Junior Brianna Brannon (Cincinnati, OH / Seton), making The Lions lead 2-0 just 6 minutes into the game.
It wouldn't take long for the Cardinals to start scoring goals of their own. The Cardinals would go on to score nine goals before The Lions would find the back of the net again late in the first half. The Lions third goal would come from an attack by Brannon. The Lions would enter the half down 11-3.
The Lions were unable to find any offensive action during the second half of play. While The Mount would put up a tough fight against the Cardinals, the Cardinals would hold The Lions scoreless the remainder of the game. Otterbein would go on to score nine goals in the seconds half, ultimately winning the game 20-3.
