NOTRE DAME, IN - The Mount St. Joseph University women's lacrosse team travelled to Notre Dame to take on the Belles of Saint Mary's College on Saturday in their first game of the season. The Lions took a tough loss on the road in their season opener losing the game 17-1.
The Lions entered the game hoping to earn a victory; the Belles on the other hand had other thoughts. The Lions fell behind quickly as the Belles were able to gain a quick 5-0 lead within the first five minutes. The Lions could not control the Belles offensive attacks throughout the first half as they quickly went down 11-0 entering the half.
The start of the second half shinned some light on The Lions offense as freshman Megan Dancer (Springboro, OH / Springboro) lead The Mount to their only goal of the game in a man-up situation just 11 seconds into the half. Dancer recorded her first collegiate goal while leading The Lions with 2 shots, 1 goal, and 4 ground balls. The one goal was all The Lions were able to score as the Belles continued their offensive strike, recording 6 more goals in the second half. The Lions fell to the Belles 17-1 to end their first game of the season.
