CINCINNATI, OH - The Mount St. Joseph University Lions traveled to Bluffton University to take on the Beavers in a rescheduled conference game. The Mount couldn't pull out the win at the end of the day falling to Bluffton 70-63.
The Lions traded the lead four times with the Beavers all throughout the first quarter. They had a five point lead but were not able to hold it and finished the quarter behind one point. The Lions found their stride in the second quarter having a 10 point lead with 2 minutes left in the half. When halftime finally came The Mount's lead had shrunk to only one point leaving the score 32-31.
In the second half the Lions fought a tough battle always coming close to regaining the lead but not being able to break through that barrier. The score continued to fluctuate between a one score game with the light at the end of the tunnel for the Lions. The Mount gave it everything the could in the last few minutes but the Beavers found a way to keep the Lions down finishing with the score of 70-63.
The Mount's three seniors took charge with Laniee Studer (Pleasant Plain, OH / Little Miami) was the leading force for the Lions she amounted 21 points, 10 rebounds, 7 assists, 5 steals and 4 blocks. Brooklynn Sturwold (Cincinnati, OH / Mercy) made a splash with 12 points and give 2 assists. Hayley Hudson (Ross, OH / Ross) found a way to snag 9 rebounds, 2 assists as well as 9 points of her own.
