Mount St. Joseph softball splits pair with Centre

LOCATION: Danville, Ky. (South Campus Field)

THE BASICS:
The Lions dropped game one Wednesday at Centre College on run scored on an MSJ error in the 8th inning to break a 4-4 tie. In game two the Lions rallied to win 8-5. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
Centre College dropped four runs on the Lions in the first inning of game one, but MSJ chipped away at the lead with one run in the 3rd and 4th inning and two more in the fifth when Paige Kiesewetter slapped a two-run double to left center. Centre scored in the 8th on an error by the Lions to get the win.

In game two the Lions once again gave up four runs in the first inning, but would take the lead for good on a Danielle Nichelson home run in the third inning. The Lions never gave up the lead in the 8-5 win. 

STANDOUTS
Kiesewetter took a tough loss in game one after only giving up one run in 7.2 innings of relief. In game two Nichelson tossed all 7 innings, giving up five runs, but also knocking in five RBI at the plate to help herself to the win.

The Lions travel to Bluffton for a conference double header on Saturday. First pitches are scheduled for 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
