The Lions traveled to Naperville, IL to take part in the Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League conference tournament. The Lions faced the Redmen of Carthage in the first round and weren't able to build any momentum, falling in three straight sets.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Lions started off the first set with a point for point battle with Carthage. The Redmen were able to gain a small lead and would keep pressure on the Lions offense for the rest of the set. The Lions weren't able to overcome the deficit and lost the first set 25-21. The score was kept close to start off the second set but Carthage quickly found a way to build a lead. The Lions offense struggled in the second set which led to multiple errors. Unable to get their momentum, the Lions lost the second set 25-16. Carthage didn't let up going into the final set and built another quick lead. The Lions trailed for most of the set but fought back late to bring the score within two points. Back to back errors from the Lions and a service ace would give Carthage the set with a final score of 25-20.
Jason Hascher (Miamisburg, OH / Alter) led the Lions offense with 12 kills while hitting an outstanding .409. Nathan Herdeman (Cincinnati, OH / Elder) dished out 39 assist while also grabbing 5 digs during the match.
