Lions drop conference match on the road 6-2

The Basics:

The Lions came out strong taking the lead into halftime 1-0. During the second half the Pioneers took the half and defeated the Lions 6-2.

How it Happened:

The Mount traveled to Transylvania University to compete against Pioneers in a conference match. In the first half the Lions were able to be the first ones to score within the first ten minutes of the game. The goal was scored by Alonzo Garcia Alvarez (Cleves, OH / Harrison) making that his second for the season and giving the Mount an early lead. The Lions were able to hold this lead over the Pioneers going into halftime up 1-0.

It wasn't until the 52nd minute of the game when Transylvania was able to bring the score back to a tie game. The Mount's very own Nathan Schmeusser (West Harrison, IN / East Central) answered back almost immediately to regain the lead again. The Pioneers came back with a pair of goals which gave them all the momentum they needed. The Lions fought hard but were until to come out victorious falling on the road with a final score of 6-2.

Lion Hearted Performance:

Garcia Alvarez and Schmeusser had the lion hearted performances of the match giving the Mount their only goals in the match and helping the Lions have a strong start to the match on the road.

The Lions will host the Spartans of Manchester University in a double header matchup on Saturday, October 13 at 8pm on Schueler Field.
