DELHI, Ohio - The Mount St. Joseph University faced off against the Panthers of Hanover College in a home conference match-up game on Wednesday. The Lions found themselves on the defensive end for most of the game as they fell to the Panthers by a score of 23-2.
The Panthers would get the first goal of the game before The Lions would quickly answer back and get a goal for themselves. Tony Behler (Cincinnati,Ohio/Elder) would find the back of the net off of a Kevin McClanahan (Madeira,Ohio/Madeira) assist, tying the game at 1-1. Hanover would then take the lead and run with it, as they would score 6 more goals throughout the first quarter before the duo of McClanahan and Behler would get another goal. This time Kevin McClanahan would get The Lions the goal off of an assist by Tony Behler. As time would wind down in the remainder of the first quarter, the Panther would score two more goals and enter the 2nd quarter of play leading The Lions 9-2.
The second quarter of play would see a lot of defensive play from both sides. The Lions were unable to capitalize on any of their opportunities and would relinquish two goal to the Panthers throughout the quarter. Entering the half The Lions would be trailing the Panthers 11-2.
The Panthers would hold The Lions scoreless for the remainder of the game as they would continue to build their scoring total. The Panthers would add 12 more goals to their total through the remainder of the game. The Lions would lose to the Panthers by a final score of 23-2.
