Lions finish 5th in HCAC Championship; Ethan McCarthy earns All-HCAC

ANDERSON, Ind. --  The Mount St. Joseph men's golf team finished in fifth place in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship tournament on Sunday. The two weekend event was hosted by Transylvania University and Anderson University, with the final round taking place at the Anderson Country Club in Anderson, Ind.

The Lions were led in the tournament by All-HCAC performer Ethan McCarthy (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) who finished in a tie for fourth place with an 8-over par 224. McCarthy was extremely consistent for the Lions in the tournament, dialing in a pair of 75's in Lexington before a 74 in the final round.

The next best performer for The Mount was David Dattilo (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder) who finished in a tie for 19th place. Senior Josh Kruzel (Toledo, Ohio/St. Francis DeSales) finished 23rd in the tournament. 

Frankie Hofmeyer (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder) and Matt Paluga (Cincinnati, Ohio/Northwest) rounded out the top-5 for the Lions for the HCAC Tournament. Hofmeyer finished in a tie for 29th and Paluga finished 35th. 

Transylvania again was the HCAC Champion and will represent the conference in the NCAA DIII Men's Golf Championship, which they will host in Lexington, Ky.
