Jon Bennett

Jon Bennett returns for his sixth season in 2014-2015 as the head coach of the Mount women’s volleyball program. He has over 20 years of coaching experience in both men’s and women’s volleyball programs at many levels. Bennett is also the Mount's Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Advisor.

Bennett, who was hired in February 2009, was the Lions’ women’s assistant volleyball coach (2001-2004). He also coached the Mount's men's volleyball team from its inception in 2010, until midway through the 2012 season. Bennett returned to the Mount from Miami University Middletown where he served as head coach of the women’s team in 2008. He led the Thunder Hawks to the Ohio Regional Campus Championship and an 11-6 record, as they won their last seven matches of the season. Bennett was also the assistant women’s coach at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio (2005-2007),

Bennett led the Mount to a first place regular season tie in the HCAC standings in 2011, turning in a 7-2 conference mark. The Lions' finish qualified them to the HCAC Tournament, where their season ended with a 3-2 semifinals loss to Bluffton University. The Mount also tied for first place in the regular season HCAC standings in 2012, with an 8-1 mark, and won the HCAC Tournament, posting a 3-0 win in the final over Transylvania University. The Lions then lost in the first round of the NCAA Division III Tournament to Washington (MO) University. In 2013, the Mount was third in the HCAC regular season, qualifying to the HCAC Tournament where they fell to Bluffton University, 3-2, in a first round match.

While at the Mount, Bennett has coached the Lions to a 88-72 overall record and a mark of 37-7 in the HCAC.

The Lions’ head coach has also been employed as a substitute teacher by the Hamilton City School District. He graduated in 2001 from Miami University with a bachelor’s degree in health education and a minor in coaching. The Forest Park High School alum, who is a USA Volleyball IMPACT Instructor, is CAP Level I and II accredited and has achieved ASEP Level 1 and ASEP Master Level accreditations. Coach Bennett is also a member of the American Volleyball Coaches’ Association.

He resides in Forest Park, Ohio, with his wife, Kymn, and daughter, Alexis, who attends the Mount, majoring in Nursing. Bennett's oldest daughter, Andrea, and husband Nick, have two sons, Oliver and Ziggy.

The Mount became a member of the Midwest-III Conference in 2011. They joined the Continental Volleyball Conference in 2012. Bennett coached the men's team from 2010 through the first 15 matches of the 2012 season.
