Lions' women's volleyball Head Coach Jon Bennett and Assistant Coach Cristina Webb and their 2014 team will kick off the fall season on Aug. 29-30 in Birmingham, AL, playing four matches at the Birmingham-Southern College Tournament.
Bennett is looking forward to the trip down south to start the fall campaign.
“We are excited about the 2014 schedule,'' Bennett said. "It will give us the opportunity to play several programs that will help us prepare for the very competitive HCAC .
"The opening weekend will give us a chance to play four schools that we don’t usually get to see. We are also going to have the opportunity to visit
the civil rights museum, which we are extremely anxious to see, before we return home.”
After taking on Sewanee The University of the South, Bimingham-Southern College, Covenant College, and Piedmont College, the Mount will open their 2014 home campaign with a match against Shawnee State on Sept. 3. They will then host the Fifth Annual Charlie Wrublewski Tournament, on Sept 5-6. The conference season will begin in Sept. 27 with a home match against Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.
The Mount compiled a 16-17 overall mark last season, went 7-2 in the HCAC, and qualified to the Conference Tournament. This fall will be Bennett's six season as the head coach of the Lions.
