Lions' volleyball team to welcome Newport Central Catholic's Alyssa Maier to team for fall

Alyssa Maier, a five-foot-nine setter from Wilder, Kentucky has committed to play volleyball at the Mount next season, Lions’ Head Coach Jon Bennett announced today.

Maier earned KHSAA Second Team honors last season as a senior at Newport Central Catholic.  She played for Head Coach Vicki Fleissner.

“Alyssa is a very talented setter with the desire to get better each time she plays,’’ Bennett said. “I am looking forward to working with her next fall.”

Maier played this past season for club volleyball team Crush Volleyball in Kentucky for Head Coach Paul Aviles.

Alyssa is the daughter of Elvera and Anthony Maier. She intends to major in Psychology. She said she chose to attend the Mount to further her volleyball
career.
