Mount women's volleyball set to welcome local prep player for the fall

The College of Mount St. Joseph officially announces that Kathryn (Kat) Mapes, of Cincinnati Country Day High School, will attend the College in the fall and play volleyball and lacrosse.

Mapes, a 5-foot-10½ middle hitter, played high school volleyball for Head Coach Ashley Snell. Last fall Mapes had 160 kills, 72 blocks, and 65 aces. She helped her team to a league championship in 2010, and co-league championship in 2011. For her junior year (2012), she was named Team MVP, First Team All-League, a Division IV All-Star, First Team All-City, and was nominated Sportswomen of the Year. In 2013, she Team MVP, a Division IV All-Star, and First Team All-City, in addition to being fourth in the city in blocks, and 10th in the city in kills.

Mapes was involved in many extra-curricular activities and clubs during high school, and a participant in a number of sports, including cheerleading, swimming, lacrosse, basketball. She was also a high school scholar athlete winner.

Kat, the daughter of Andi and Scott Mapes. She is planning on majoring in Chemistry/Math.
