Three College of Mount St. Joseph volleyball players have been won various end-of-the-season HCAC awards. They are freshman outside hitter Jessica Wilgenbusch (Sunman, IN/East Central), senior middle hitter Nicole Sherpensky (Cincinnati, OH/Northwest), and senior outside hitter Hannah Vanarsdall (Cincinnati, OH/McAuley).
Wilgenbusch was named HCAC Freshman of the Year and named to the All-Freshman team, while teammates Sherpensky and Vanarsdall were each named All-HCAC. Wilgenbusch was third on the Lions this season in kills (212) and blocks (61) and also recorded 128 digs. Sherpensky led the Mount in kills (367), hitting percentage (.265) and blocks (141) for 2013. She is currently 10th in the NCAA Division III in blocks per set (1.18). Vanarsdall was second in kills (320) and digs (334) this past season.
Sherpensky also won All-HCAC honors last season while the conference award for Vanarsdall is her first such honor. This is the Mount's second HCAC Freshman of the Year (Katie Playko, 2005). This is the fourth season in a row that the Lions have had a player named to the Conference All-Freshman squad.
