The Lions completed play on Saturday at the Wheaton College Invitational, winning their first match, 3-1 over UW-Platteville, and then falling in three sets to host Wheaton. The Mount, 9-11 overall, will put their 1-0 HCAC record on the line on Oct. 5 when they play at Defiance College.

The Mount recorded set wins of 25-20, 25-18, and 25-20 against UW-Platteville, their eighth straight win, before losing to Wheaton, 25-16, 25-18, and 25-23. Against UW-Platteville, the Lions got 12 kills and seven digs from Hannah Vanarsdall (Cincinnati, OH/McAuley) and 10 kills and six block assists from senior teammate Nicole Sherpensky (Cincinnati, OH/Northwest). The Lions hit .286 as team in the match, totaling 45 kills. Emma Beyer (Liberty Township, OH/Mt. Notre Dame) had a game-high 21 digs while Janelle Davis (Convoy, OH/Wayne Trace) chipped in 20 assists.

The team's winning streak ended against host Wheaton, as the Thunder went to 14-5. The Lions led the final set, 23-19, only to see Wheaton tie the set at 23-all, following two Mount attack errors. Two more attack errors gave Wheaton the win. Stephanie Chisholm (Cincinnati, OH/Oak Hills), Vanarsdall and Sherpensky each had eight kills for the Mount. Torrie Whitmore (Mason, OH/Mason) had 16 assists, Beyer had 12 digs, and Sherpensky chipped in five blocks (one solo, four assists).

Vanardsdall was named to the All-Tournament team.
