Senior teammates Nicole Sherpensky (Cincinnati, OH/Northwest) and Hannah Vanarsdall (Cincinnati, OH/McAuley) combined for 35 kills as the Mount began 2013 HCAC play with a 3-1 win at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. The Lions, 6-10 overall, and winners of five straight, will return to action on this Friday and Saturday when they play in the Wheaton College Tournament, taking on four opponents over the weekend.

Sherpensky continued her outstanding season against the Engineers, recording 18 kills and a .452 hitting percentage. She also had two digs, and five blocks (two solo, three assists). Vanarsdall added 17 kills, and eight digs as the Lions posted the 25-20, 25-19, 18-25, 25-19 win. Torrie Whitmore (Mason, OH/Mason) added four kills, 14 assists and 12 digs while Janelle Davis (Convoy, OH/Wayne Trace) chipped in 30 assists and seven digs. Emma Beyer (Liberty Township, OH/Mt. Notre Dame) also had eight digs. The Lions had 53 kills and a .235 team hitting percentage.
