The Mount completed two-day play at the OAC/HCAC Crossover Tournament on Saturday afternoon with two more wins, to go 4-0 in the Tournament. The Lions, 5-10 on the season, are back in action on Sept. 25 at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology for their HCAC opener.
The Lions won sets 1, 3, and 5 against Ohio Northern University, who drops to 8-6. Nicole Sherpensky (Cincinnati, OH/Northwest) continued her solid all-around play against the Polar Bears, recorded 21 kills and seven blocks (one solo, six assists). Frontcourt mate Stephanie Chisholm (Cincinnati, OH/Oak Hills) added 12 kills and six blocks. Janelle Davis (Convoy, OH/Wayne Trace) had 27 assists, 14 digs, and five service aces while Emma Beyer (Liberty Township, OH/Mt. Notre Dame) had 21 digs. Chelsea Shanklin (Monroe, OH/Monroe) had 19 digs.
The Mount became the only 4-0 team in the Tournament when they knocked off BW in four sets, 25-11, 23-25, 25-16, 25-20. Sherpensky led three Lions' players in double figure kills, totaling 12, while Hannah Vanarsdall (Cincinnati, OH/McAuley) and Chisholm added 10 kills each. Sherpensky also had four service aces, five digs and eight blocks. Shanklin had 18 digs against ONU while Vanarsdall chipped in 12 digs. The Mount had 53 kills in the four-set match, and had a .204 hitting percentage.
Sherpensky was named to the All-Tournament team.
