Lions' volleyball registers a 1-1 record in final day of action at Charlie Wrublewski Tournament

The Lions split two matches on Saturday at the Charlie Wrublewski Tournament, defeating Heidelberg University, 3-0; and losing the DePauw University, 3-1. The Mount, 1-5 on the season, will resume action on Sept. 13-14 at the Wittenberg University Classic, playing four matches in two days.

The Mount swept its first action of the day over the 'Berg, thanks to a combined hitting effort, led by Nicole Sherpensky (Cincinnati, OH/Northwest) and Torrie Whitmore (Mason, OH/Mason) among others. Sherpensky had eight kills and four blocks while Whitmore chipped in seven kills and 24 assists. Emma Beyer (Liberty Township, OH/Mt. Notre Dame) added 10 digs and three service aces in the three-set match.

The Lions won set one in their match against DePauw, 26-24, and played the the next two sets close, losing by 25-22 scores and then dropping the fourth set, 25-19. Sherpensky led the offense again with 11 kills while Whitmore added 34 assists. Stephanie Chisholm (Cincinnati, OH/Oak Hills) had seven kills and four blocks.

Whitmore was named to the All-Tournament team.
