Mount women's volleyball team ends regular season going 1-1 at Centre College Tournament

The College of Mount St. Joseph completed 2012 regular season play today at the Centre College Halloween Bash, falling to the host team, 3-0 but rebounding to post a 3-0 win over Roanoke College. The Lions, 12-14 overall, are idle until Nov. 3 when they take on an opponent TBD in a semifinal match of the HCAC Tournament. The Mount is hosting the tournament in the Harrington Center as the number one seed and regular season conference champion.

Centre College posted a first match win with scores of 25-23, 27-25m and 25-22 over the Lions. Nicole Sherpensky (Cincinnati, OH/Northwest) led the way for the Mount, recorded 16 kills while teammate Bethani Ritter (Cincinnati, OH/McAuley) had 12 kills and six digs. Jaclyn Stenger (Cincinnati, OH/Oak Hills) added 17 digs, while backcourt mate Michelle Woods (Ft. Wright, KY/Newport Central Catholic) had 13 digs. Janelle Davis (Convoy, OH/Wayne Trace) had 36 assists and five digs.

The Lions came away with a 3-0 win in their second and final match of the day, posting set scores of 25-9, 25-19, 25-21 over Roanoke. Hannah Vanarsdall (Cincinnati, OH/McAuley) had 12 kills and Sherpensky added 11 kills as the Lions hit .265 as a team. Stenger had a team-high 16 digs while Davis chipped in 20 assists and nine digs.
