The College of Mount St. Joseph women's volleyball team improved to 7-1 in the HCAC, and 10-13 overall, after they recorded a 3-1 win at conference-foe Manchester College. The Lions, one-half game behind HCAC-leader Transylvania University (7-0) for the top spot, will host the Pioneers on Oct. 24 in the Harrington Center. Match time is 7:00PM.
Three Lions' players finished in double figures in kills against the Spartans, with Bethani Ritter (Cincinnati, OH/McAuley) leading the way with 14 kills, while teammates Nicole Sherpensky (Cincinnati, OH/Northwest) and Hannah Vanarsdall (Cincinnati, OH/McAuley) chipped in 13 and 11 kills, respectively. Ritter added 12 digs and two aces, while Jaclyn Stenger (Cincinnati, OH/Oak Hills) had 11 digs. Janelle Davis (Convoy, OH/Wayne Trace) recorded 45 assists and 12 digs. The Lions had 53 kills as a team in the match.
The two teams split the first two sets, by identical 25-20 scores, with the Mount taking set one and the Spartans claiming set two. The Mount recorded the victory over Manchester by winning the final two sets, 25-20, 25-19.
