Visiting DePauw University used a solid all-around offensive and defensive attack on Wednesday night, as they upended the Mount, 3-0 in the Harrington Center. The Lions, 9-13 overall, will return to action on Oct. 20 when they play at HCAC-foe Manchester College. The Mount has a 6-1 record in conference play, one-half game behind conference-leader Transylvania University.

Set one against DePauw saw the two teams fairly close early on, until the Tigers went on a run and jumped out to a 18-12 lead. The Lions closed to within 22-20, but saw DePauw jump back ahead 24-20. Torrie Whitmore (Mason, OH/Mason) recorded a kill to make the score 24-23 but DePauw ended the first set, 25-23, with a kill.

The second set mirrored the first set as both teams battled back-and-forth for the lead throughout. The Lions held a 20-17 lead, after a Stephanie Chisholm (Cincinnati, OH/Oak Hills) kill, but saw DePauw fight back to knot the score at 20-all. After ties at 23, 24, 25 and 26, DePauw posted back-to-back kills, to post the 28-26 second set victory.

The Tigers jumped out to leads of 12-7 and 17-9, behind a strong offense in set three, and on a Mount error claimed the match with a 25-11 third set win. The victory was DePauw's 20th of the season.

Bethani Ritter (Cincinnati, OH/McAuley) led the Mount with nine kills while Whitmore added seven kills. Janelle Davis (Convoy, OH/Wayne Trace) recorded 17 assists and 11 digs while Jaclyn Stenger (Cincinnati, OH/Oak Hills) had 13 digs. Nicole Sherpensky (Cincinnati, OH/Northwest) had three block assists and two service aces.
