Tina Blakley returns in 2014-2015 for her seventh season at the Mount, and her fourth as the College of Mount St. Joseph’s head coach for the Lions’ men’s and women’s Cross Country and Track & Field teams. Coach Blakley is very committed to creating a team environment in which the Cross Country and Track & Field team athletes experience success academically as well as athletically. Her teams have maintained 3.0 or higher GPAs and many of the athletes have received academic honors as well as recognition by the HCAC for their academic excellence. Since becoming the program’s head coach in 2011, she has been dedicated to building competitive Cross Country and Track & Field programs that consists of dedicated student athletes and establishing tradition for the programs.
She is passionate about enabling Mount athletes achieve their personal goals and is an advocate for educating athletes about injury prevention, cross training, nutrition, sport psychology and strength & conditioning. Coach Blakley partners with the Mount’s Strength and Conditioning Director Brent Rogers, as well as with the Athletic Training Department to ensure that each athlete in her team’s programs has an overall balance in their training and competition. Athletes on her teams continue to achieve personal bests in their events, break school records and during the 2012 Cross Country season, had a freshman female athlete qualify for the NCAA Division III National Championships – the first time ever in Mount history.
Coach Blakley is a USATF certified Level 1 and Level 2 Track & Field Coach, as well as an AFAA certified personal trainer. She has helped direct many individual athletes and teams improve their overall performance through strength and conditioning training programs. Her personal interests involve strength training and competing in multi-discipline endurance races, long distance running and cycling.
Blakley is pursuing a degree in Sport Management and is expected to graduate from the Mount in May 2015. She maintains a 3.80 GPA, is on the Dean’s List and is a member of the Sigma Beta Delta International Honor Society in Business, Management and Administration.
