Lions' women's tennis team suffers 7-2 home setback to Thomas More College

In their second match-up of the fall season on Wednesday aftenoon against cross-river rival Thomas More College, the Lions and Saints played to the same score, with the visitors coming out on top again, 7-2. The Mount, 1-8 overall this season. will be looking for their first conference win of the season on Oct. 12 when they host an HCAC match against Defiance College.

Lions' first singles player Shelby Betz (Hamlton, OH/Lakota West) claimed a a 6-2, 6-0 win over her Thomas More opponent while the other Mount win during the day came at second doubles as Felicia Shadwick (Middletown, OH/Monroe) and Harley Huston (East Palestine, IN/East Palestine) teamed to win, 8-3. Shadwick also dropped a hard-fought match at third singles, 7-5, 6-3. Betz and doubles teammate Morgan Hoehn (Cincinnati, OH/Colerain) were edged, 8-5. Thomas More improved to 6-8 with the win.
