Visiting Hanover College scored two goals within in a span of two minutes, late in the game, and went on to defeat the Lions, 4-1 at Schueler Field. The Mount, 4-11-1, 3-3 in the HCAC, will be back in action on Oct. 26 when they host Manchester University. Hanover maintains its lead in the conference, going to 5-0-1.
The Panthers jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first half, but saw their lead cut in the half in the 54th minute of play when Victoria Heflin (Hamilton, OH/Hamilton Badin) scored her team-leading sixth goal. The Lions were able to generate just one more shot over the next eight minutes, as Hanover would go on to make the score 3-1 in the 78th minute of play. They added the final score of the game at 79:54, holding off the Mount challenge.
Hanover out-shot the Lions, 28-7 in the game, including 16-5 in shots on goal. Morgan Froehlke (Oxford, OH/Talawanda) and Madison Freeman (Wilder, KY/Newport Central Catholic) split the goalkeeping duties for the Mount, with each playing a half in goal. Froehlke had eight saves while Freeman recorded four saves.
