Mount forward Victoria Heflin (Hamilton, OH/Hamilton Badin) scored a goal just 13:14 into the game on Tuesday night, and the Lions made it stand up as they defeated Bluffton University, 1-0. The HCAC wins gives the Mount a 2-0 conference record, keeping them tied for the conference lead with Rose-Hulman. The Lions, 3-8-1 overall, returns to HCAC action on Oct. 12 when they host Franklin College.

Heflin scored off a pass from teammate Noel Boyd (Oregonia, OH/Clinton-Massie) in the 14th minute of action, as the Lions' defense and goalkeeper Madison Freeman (Wilder, KY/Newport Central Catholic) held down the Beavers' offense throughout the game. Bluffton out-shot the Mount, 15-6, including 10-4 in shots on goal. Freeman had ten saves, and posted her second shutout of the season.
