Casey Brewster joins the Lions’ wrestling coaching staff for his first season in 2011-2012 as an assistant coach. Brewster was most recently at NCAA Division I Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, CT, as the head wrestling coach, a position he held since 2007. Prior to that Brewster was an assistant coach at NCAA Division I Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey, for a season; and an assistant wrestling coach at NCAA Division II Belmont Abbey College in Charlotte, NC, for a one season.
Brewster, who has a bachelor of science degree in athletic coaching education/physical education from West Virginia University, was a member of the WVU wrestling team, where he helped the team to two Eastern Wrestling League team championships, was a league runner up in 2004 at the 125-pound division, was an NCAA qualifier for the 2003-2004 seasons at 125-pounds. Brewster was named to the Athletic Director’s Academic Honor Roll in 2003-2004, and was an NAIA All-American at 133 pounds.
He was also a post graduate assistant coach at WVU. At Sacred Heart Brewster coached the team to a national top 10 Academic finish in 2010 and directed 14 conference placers. He established a local wrestling club in Connecticut, coached a junior national champion and All-American in 2010, and led Sacred Heart University to a third place regional finish.
In addition, coach Brewster has directed numerous coaching camps as well as cadet and junior national teams.
