Lions' wrestling earns sixth place finish at Waynesburg University Invitational

The College of Mount St. Joseph wrestled in the Waynesburg University Invitational on Saturday. The Invitational, held in Waynesburg, Pennsylvania, saw 12 schools compete, with the Lions taking sixth (69.5 points). The meet winner was the host Waynesburg University (175.0 points) followed by Washington and Jefferson (134.5 points) and West Liberty University (133.0).

Nick Manning (Moores Hill, IN/South Dearborn) competed in the 165-pound class for the Lions. Manning finished the day with a victory in the third place match to finish 4-1 for the competition.

Tyler Ray (West Chester, OH/Lakota East) also earned a third place finish for the Lions. Ray completed the competition with a 3-1 record in the 184-pound weight class.

The big winner of the day for the Lions was Sean Brooks (Englewood, OH/Northmont). Brooks went 4-0 on the day with wins of 4-0, 3-2, 5-2, and 3-2. Brooks defeated Aaron Silverio of West Liberty University to earn the championship in the heavyweight class.

The Lions return to the mat next Saturday at the Manchester University Spartan Mat Classic.
