Two Mount wrestlers finish first place at Washington and Jefferson College Open

The College of Mount St. Joseph wrestling team traveled to Washington, Pennsylvania to compete at the Washington and Jefferson College Open. No team scores were recorded, but two Lions were winners in their weight class. Other teams included Heidelberg, Alma, and Thiel.

In the 141-pound weight class Wayne Black (Indianapolis, IN/Pike) finished the day with a 4-0 record. Black defeated Nick Sutton of Thiel College in the final 11-3 to finish in first place.

Nick Manning (Moores Hill, IN/South Dearborn) finished the day 3-3 in the 174-pound weight class. Manning earned a sixth place finish for the competition.

The Lions had another first place finisher in Sean Brooks (Englewood, OH/Northmont). Brooks finished the event 4-0, including a hard fought 3-2 win in the championship match of the 285-pound weight class.

The Lions will return to action November 16 at the Eastern Michigan University Open in Ypsilanti, Michigan.
