Sunday, February 03, 2013 The Lions traveled to Wheaton, Illinois to compete in the Wheaton College Invitational on Friday and Saturday. The Mount placed 17th with 38.5 points. Of the 29 schools competing, Wisconsin-Parkside was the champion, recording 151.5 points. Messiah College placed second with 105 points followed by Wisconsin-Lacrosse in third place with 87 points. The Lions had two wrestlers finish in the top eight. Wayne Black (Indianapolis, IN/Pike). Black finished the day 4-1, with his only loss coming in the finals. Black lost in the finals to the number two seed in the 141 pound class. The other Lions' wrestller that placed was Cory Disbennett (Bethel, OH/Bethel-Tate) in the 165 pound wieght class. Disbennett finished the meet with a 6-2 record, which earned him a fourth place finish. Disbennett lost his second match to the number five seed, and then ran off five straight wins, before losing in the third place match to the number three seed. The Lions will return to action in two weeks at the Mid-State Championships at Alma College in Alma, Michigan. Following that match will be the HCAC Championships.
