Lions' wrestling team places fourth at the Waynesburg Invitational

On Satruday the Lions reutrned from Holiday break to compete in the Waynesburg Invitational in Waynesburg, Pa. The Lions placed fourth with 114.0 points, behind Olivet College (198.5), West Liberty University (131.0), and Johns Hopkins (119.0). 33 teams participated in the annual Waynesburg Invitational.

Eddie Sanders (Hamiltion, OH/Hamilton Badin) placed second in the 133 pound class. Sanders won his first three matches before falling in the final match. Wayne Black (Indianapolis, IN/Pike) competed in the 141 pound class. Black won his frist two matches, before losing his third. He went on to win his next two including a 3-1 decision to claim third place. Joseph Conrad (Hamilton, OH/Ross) finished 4-2 en route to a fifth place finish in the 149 pound class.

Cory Disbennett (Bethel, OH/Bethel-Tate) rolled to a 4-0 finish to claim first place in the 165 pound class, including a 2-1 decision in the championship match. Nolan Karwoski (Carmel, IN/Carmel) recorded a 3-1 mark, which resulted in a third place finish. His only loss was to the eventual champion. Sean Brooks (Englewood, OH/Northmont) battled his way to a 5-2 finish which was good enough to earn him a fifth place finish.

The Lions will return to the mat next Saturday when they travel to Manchester, IN to compete in the Manchester University Spartan Mat Classic.
