Sunday, December 16, 2012 The Lions were in action this past Saturday and Sunday at the Midwest Classic, held at the University of Indianapolis. The Mount placed 21st out of 26 schools, while Newberry College was first in the team standings. The Lions are back in action on Jan. 5 at the Waynesburg University Invitational. The Mount had wrestlers compete in nine of 10 weight classes at the Midwest Classic. 285-pounder Sean Brooks (Englewood, OH/Northmont) led the way for the Lions with a 3-2 mark in his weight class, advancing to the Consolation Round 4, before losing his final match of the tournament. 184-pounder Nolan Karwoski (Carmel, IN/Carmel) and 149-pounder Joe Conrad (Hamilton, OH/Ross) both also advanced to the same round as Brooks, with each turning in 2-2 records. Karwoski lost his final match by a 3-1 score. Tommy Fehring (Amelia, OH/Glen Este), at 157 pounds, went 2-2 advancing to Consolation Round 3, where he dropped his final match by a 2-1 score. Each Mount wrestler at the tournament recorded at least one win.
