Mount senior lacrosse midfielder Samantha Hughes named Second Team All-MWLC

College of Mount St. Joseph senior lacrosse midfielder Samantha Hughes (Cincinnati, OH/Colerain) has been named to the 2014 Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference Second Team.

Hughes was one of the top scorers in the conference, finishing the season with a team-high 69 goals, 11 assists and a team-leading 80 points. Her 69 goals and 80 points set new Mount single-season marks. Hughes also had two game-winning goals, helping the Mount to a program-best nine wins in 2014. She also had 34 ground balls, 18 caused turnovers, and controlled the Lions' offense off of draws during the season. Hughes also holds team records in goals in a game, and points in a game, recording eight goals and 10 points against Wilmington College this season.

Hughes finished her two-year career with 93 goals, 11 assists and 104 points. The all-conference award was the first such of her career.
