Lions' freshman Amanda Shelby competes at the NCAA Division III National Championship
Sunday, November 18, 2012 On Saturday, November 17th the Division III cross country national championships were held in Terre Haute, Indiana. The women raced 6,000 meters on the Lavern Gibson Course, which was the home of the Division I championships the past 8 years. Shelby was the Mount's only participant. Johns Hopkins won their first national title, while Christy Cazzola of the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh won the individual title in a time of 20 minutes and 53 seconds. Amanda Shleby (Cincinnati, OH/Lakota West) finished 166th of of the 277 runners in a time of 23 minutes and 11 seconds. Shelby's time placed her as one of the top 25 freshmen in the nation, and the leading runner in the HCAC. This wraps up the 2012 season for the Lions and Amanda Shelby.
