Wednesday, October 31, 2012 Each week during the 2012 cross country season a Mount women's runner will be highlighted. This week's spotlight runner is freshman Amanda Shelby (West Chester, OH/Lakota West). Get to know Amanda Shelby . . . What is your major and why does it interest you? Athletic Training. I like to working with athletes. What is your favorite place on campus? The road by the Sisters of Charity. What is your earliest cross country memory? Winning and running in my first cross country meet. What is the toughest meet you ever competed in? The Ohio cross country state championship meet What is one thing you want to happen before you leave the College of Mount St. Joseph? To achieve a new PR and to win the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference. What song always gets you ready to compete? Eye of the Tiger by Survivor What do your fellow students always want to know? How do I run 9 to 11 miles straight without stopping! When you were younger, what were you always getting in trouble for? Most likely everything. I was a wild child. Then I transferred my energy into running now. What is your favorite food in the Fifth-Third dining hall? Any of their fruit or hamburgers If you were candy, what would you be and why? I would be a sweat tart because I am sweat and sassy. If Hollywood made a movie about your life, whom would you like to see play you in the lead role? It would be Amanda Bynes or Reese Witherspoon If you weren’t competing in Cross Country, what sport would you be playing? Gymnastics If you could have any superpower, what would you want? Teleportation Who has been the most influential on your life and why? Everyone in my family. Everyone in my family is a little bit different. So I can learn a What song on your iPod would surprise people? Any country song If you could take three things with you on a deserted island, what would you take? Not including survival gear. It would be a friend, camera, and phone Where would you go if you had a time machine? I would go to the future. What was your best Halloween costume growing up? My cat costume! I can run in it! Do you have any pre-Cross Country meet rituals? If so, what? I always eat a peanut butter sandwich and listen to music. If you could have any job, what would it be? I would be a Physical Therapist that can travel around with a big sports team. What was the one thing that sold you on the College of Mount St. Joseph? My Coach and the Mount's Athletic Training program.
