Host Manchester University used a solid inside-outside game, and a pesty defense on Saturday afternoon as they defeated the Lions, 83-46, in HCAC action. The Mount, 1-10 overall, 1-3 in the conference, returns to action on Jan. 8 when they play at HCAC-rival Bluffton University (6-5, 2-2).

The Spartans, undefeated in conference play this season, jumped out to an early 8-0 lead, and held an 11-1 advantage just 3:50 into the game. Manchester was equally effective from both the inside, converting layups and close shots, and from behind the three-point arc, as they built up a 48-20 lead by intermission. They out-shot the Lions, 60 to 24 percent from the field in the first half, and forced the Mount into 12 turnovers.

Manchester's shooting cooled considerably in the second half, as they out-shot the Mount 39 to 30 percent from the field in the final 20 seconds of play, but the Mount could get no closer. Manchester's win was it's seventh in 11 overall games this season, as they went to 4-0 in the HCAC.

Tara Dennis (Batavia, OH/Williamsburg) had nine points and three rebounds for the Mount, while teammate Meredith Hartfiel (Villa Hills, KY/Dixie Heights) came off the bench to add nine points. Mea' Williams (West Chester, OH/Lakota West) had a team-high seven rebounds, while adding two assists and two blocked shots.
