HCAC releases women's basketball preseason poll

The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Coaches' Preseason women's basketball poll has been released and the Mount has been chosen to finish tenth this season. Transylvania University, which finished first in last season's conference standings, was chosen for the top spot, garnering seven, first-place votes, and 94 points.

The Pioneers were followed in the poll by Franklin University (two, first-place votes, 89 points), Hanover College (two, first-place votes, 79 points), Defiance College and Manchester University. Bluffton University, Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, Earlham College, Anderson University and the Mount round out the poll.

The following Mount players were selected as "Players to Watch" for the 2013-2014 season:

Melanie Monahan (Jr., G, 5-6, Mason, OH/Fenwick)

Tara Dennis (So., F, 6-0, Batavia, OH/Williamsburg)

Chelsea Castleberry (So., G, 5-5, Hebron, KY/Conner)
