The Lady Lions traveled to Anderson University on Saturday, February 17 for the 2018 HCAC Indoor Track and Field Conference Championship. The women performed well and finished in 8th place overall.
Sophomore, Andi Meyer ((Ft. Loramie, OH/ Ft. Loramie) placed all conference in both high jump and in pole vault. Meyer was able to finish 3rd in both events by clearing a height of 3.23 M (10 feet and 6 inches) in pole vault and 1.58 M (5 feet and 2 inches) in high jump. Freshman, Anna Schoster (Cincinnati, OH/ Seton) just missed out on all conference coming in 4th in the 60 M hurdles with a time of 9.91.
Junior, Maria Waters also had a strong performance in the mile run coming in 8th place in a time of 5:54.12. Sophomore, Emma Roth was the last athlete to make top 8 with a 7th place finish in the 800 M run with a time of 2:31.29.
The relay teams performed extremely well with the Distance Medley, the 4x400 M relay, and the 4x200 M relay all placed in the top 8. The 4x200 M relay team consisting of: Solange Cooper (St. Johns, FL/ Bartram Trail), Ashley Lewis (Cincinnati, OH/ Winton Woods), Ashley Klosterman (Celina, OH/ Celina), and Julia Cason (Cincinnati, OH/ McAuley) finished 8th place overall with a time of 1:56.48. The 4x400 M team made up of Solange Cooper (St. Johns, FL/ Bartram Trail), Ashley Lewis (Cincinnati, OH/ Winton Woods), Ashley Klosterman (Celina, OH/ Celina), and Emma Roth (Cincinnati, OH/ Lakota West) finished in 7th with a time of 4:34.74. Finally the Distance Medley team made up of Lizzy Shumate (Ross, OH/ Ross) Ashley Klosterman (Celina, OH/ Celina) Ashley Lewis (Cincinnati, OH/ Winton Woods) and Maria Waters (Cincinnati, OH/ Mercy) finished in 4th place with a time of 13:48.41.
The women's team performed very well and their results showed this. The team plans on continuing to perform well in the outdoor season.
