The women's track and field team traveled to DePauw University for the 2018 DePauw University Invitational on Saturday February 10. The women had a strong performance on their way to a 12th place finish.
Junior, Maria Waters (Cincinnati, OH/ Mercy) and sophomore Kiersten Lux (Waldron, IN/ Waldron) broke records in the 1 mile and in weight throw respectively. Lux was able to finish in 8th place overall by throwing 12.85M (42 feet 2 inches). Waters finished in 8th place overall and ran a time of 5:48.68.
Sophomore, Andi Meyer (Ft. Loramie, OH/ Ft. Loramie) had a very strong showing in both high jump in pole vault. Meyer cleared a height of 1.56 M (10 feet and 1 inch) in high jump and 3.05 M (10 feet) in pole vault which put her in 4th place overall in both events. Sophomore Emma Roth (Cincinnati, OH/ Lakota West) performed very well in the 800 M and finished in 3rd place with an overall time of 2:34.14.
To finish the day off, the women's 4x200 M relay team consisting of: Solange Cooper (St. Johns, FL/ Bartram Trail), Ashley Lewis (Cincinnati, OH/ Winton Woods), Ashley Klosterman (Celina, OH/ Celina), and Julia Cason (Cincinnati, OH/ McAuley) were able to finish 6th overall with a time of 1:58.56. The 4x400 team consisting of: Solange Cooper (St. Johns, FL/ Bartram Trail), Ashley Lewis (Cincinnati, OH/ Winton Woods), Ashley Klosterman (Celina, OH/ Celina), and Emma Roth (Cincinnati, OH/ Lakota West) also had a strong day by finishing 7th place overall with a time of 4:35.14.
The women had a strong showing in their final performance before the conference meet. A total of 20 PR's were broken between both the men and women's team. The women will travel to Anderson University for the 2018 HCAC Indoor Championships next Saturday, February 17.
