Lions travel for competition at the Anderson Indoor Invitational

On February 3 the Lady Lions traveled to Indiana for the 2018 Anderson University Track and Field Indoor Invitational. The women performed well and two athletes were able to break school records.

            Sophomore, Andi Meyer (Ft. Loramie/ Ft. Loramie) had an outstanding day in both high jump and pole vault. Meyer placed 4th overall in high jump by clearing 1.56 M (5 feet and 1.50 inches) which broke the school record. Adding to the team's score, Meyer placed 6th in pole vault and cleared 3.05 M (10 feet). Fellow pole vaulter, Anna Schoster (Cincinnati, OH/ Seton) cleared a height of 3.35 M (11 feet) and was able to win this event. Schoster also competed in the 60 M hurdles where she was just edged out and finished in 2nd.

            Sophomore, Kiersten Lux (Waldron, IN/ Waldron) also broke a school record in weight throw. Having broken the record last week, Lux was able to throw 12.19 M (39 feet and 11.92 inches) which broke her own record and was good enough for 8th place overall. Junior, Maria Waters (Cincinnati, OH/ Mercy) didn't break any records, but she performed very well. Waters finished 4th in the 3000 M race with a time of 11:42.22. She followed this performance up with a 6th place finish in the mile with a time of 5.51.90.

            Julia Cason (Cincinnati, OH/ McAuley), Ashley Lewis (Cincinnati, OH/ Winton Woods), Ashley Klosterman (Celina, OH/ Celina) and Solange Cooper (St. John's, FL/Bartram Trail) all competed in both the 4x200 M relay and the 4x400 M relay were they placed very well. The women finished 2nd overall in the 4x400 M and 3rd in the 4x200 M relay with times of 4.31.91 and 1.58.33 respectively.

            Both the team and individuals had solid performances which they look to continue next week on February 10 at DePauw University.
