The Women's track and field team traveled to Capital University for their second meet of the indoor season and it would prove to be a record breaking day. Sophomore, Anna Schoster (Cincinnati, OH/ Seton) had an amazing day, breaking the school record in pole vault and the 60 meter hurdles. Schoster was able to clear 3.35 M (10 feet and 11.88 inches) in pole vault which was good enough for second place. Schoster ran a time of 9.87 in the 60 M hurdles which was good enough for 6th place.
Junior, Maria Waters (Cincinnati, OH/ Mercy) and sophomore Kiersten Lux (Waldron, IN/ Waldron) also broke records in the 3000 M and in weight throw respectively. Waters ran the race in a time of 11:21.93 which was fast enough for 6th place overall. Lux was able to throw 12.19 M (39 feet and 11.92 inches) but unfortunately just missed out on top 8.
Sophomore Andi Meyer (Ft. Loramie, OH/ Ft. Loramie) didn't break any school records, but had a very strong showing in pole vault and high jump. Meyer was able to finish 3rd, right behind teammate Schoster, with a height of 3.05 M (10 feet and 1 inch). Meyer was also able to finish 4th in high jump by clearing a height of 1.50 M (4 feet and 11 inches).
To finish the day off, the women's 4x400 M relay team consisting of: Emma Roth (Cincinnati, OH/ Lakota West), Ashley Lewis (Cincinnati, OH/ Winton Woods), Ashley Klosterman (Celina, OH/ Celina), and Julia Cason (Cincinnati, OH/ McAuley) were able to finish 5th overall with a time of 4.44.60. The Lady Lions finished in 6th place overall and had a very strong showing in the second meet of the year. Between the ladies and the men, 19 athletes broke their personal best. The team hopes to continue their success in their next meet on Saturday, February 3rd at Anderson University.
