The Lions defeat the Bluffton Beavers 4-1

LOCATION: Sears Complex (Bluffton, OH)

THE BASICS:

The Lions traveled to Bluffton University to take part in another conference match. The Lions kept the pressure on the Beavers and score two goals in the first half. The Lions would go on to score another two goals in the second half, resulting in a 4-1 win.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Lions didn't waste any time finding the net. Jodie Weimer (Cleves, OH / Taylor) connected with the back of the net in the 2nd minute of the game to stun the Beavers and give the Lions a 1-0 lead. The Lions controlled the tempo in the first half while staying aggressive with 22 shots in the first half. Madeline Rechel (Harrison, Ohio / Harrison) would score the second goal of the night on an assist from Anna Heiden (New Richmond, Ohio / New Richmond) in the 37th minute. The Lions would hold tight for the rest of the first half, keeping their 2-0 lead going into the locker room. The Lions continued to keep the pressure on the Beavers in the second half. Weimer found the goal yet again in the 53rd minute to give the Lions a 3-0 lead. The Lions defense kept the Beavers at bay, only allowing 8 shots during the whole match. Paige Mersmann (Florence, KY / Boone County) continued the Lions success with another goal in the 63rd minute to put the match away for the Lions. Bluffton was able to score in the 87th minute but it was too late for a comeback, resulting in a 4-1 win for the Lions.

LIONHEARTED PERFORMANCE:

Weimer earns the LionsHearted Performance for her efforts in the match against Bluffton where she scored two goals.
