Mount St. Joseph vs. Fontbonne:

The team would face their first challenge of the weekend in St. Louis, Mo. The Lions matched up against Fontbonne College.  Mount St. Joseph was able to get a shot on goal 11 more times than their opponent in the first half which gave them more opportunities to score.  43 minutes into the first half the Lions were finally able to get one into the net right before halftime.  The goal was scored by Morgan Knasel (Sidney, OH/ Sidney) after an assist by Emma Roth (West Chester, OH/ Lakota West).  This would give the Lions the lead at halftime 1-0.  In the second half, both teams were aggressive.  The Lions were able to add to their lead after a goal from Kaylan Gruber (Harrison, OH/ Harrison).  This would put the Lions in front with a score of 2-0.  The Lions would look to hold their lead for the rest of the match.  The Griffins were able to spark some hope with a goal just under 10 minutes left in the game.  Yet the Lions defense was able to hold their lead and defeat Fontbonne with a final score of 2-1.

Mount St. Joseph vs. Blackburn:

After a big win on Saturday against Fontbonne, the Lions would face the Blackburn Beavers.  This game was taken control of early by the Lions just 15 minutes in, with a goal by Jasmine Cahill (Independence, KY/ Simon Kenton) from an assist by Olivia Weber (Edgewood, KY/ Dixie Heights).  Mount St. Joseph would get the ball in the net twice more before halftime.  Paige Mersmann (Florence, KY/ Boone County) would assist Emma Roth in a goal to put the Lions up 2-0.  Brenna Lonneman (Windham, NH/ Central Catholic) would add to the Lions lead with a goal of her own to go into halftime up 3-0.  The Lions continued their success in the second half.  The defense played phenomenal only allowing 5 shots on goal the entire game.  Multiple players on Mount St. Joseph were able to get in the goal to increase the lead.  Jasmine Cahill was able to secure her second goal of the game to put the Lions ahead 4-0.  Brenna Lonneman assisted Kaylan Gruber with the next goal to add to the Lions lead.  The match was decided after a final goal by Morgan Knasel to give the Lions the win over Blackburn 6-0.

Morgan Knasel and Jasmine Cahill were able to show up big for their team this weekend.  Morgan was able to score in both games over the weekend.  Her ability to get to the net was what put the Lions in front to beat Fontbonne 2-1.  Jasmine was able to produce two goals in the game against Blackburn.  She has shown her team she is an offensive weapon that can be productive when she is close to the goal.  The Lions defense was also outstanding this weekend, after adding another shut out to their collection by taking down Blackburn 6-0.
