The men's cross country team traveled to the University of Notre Dame for the 2017, National Catholic Cross Country Invitational. Being as this is one of the largest races of the year, the team competed in both the varsity and junior varsity division.
On the JV side, freshman, Matthew Bruner (Dillsboro, IN/ South Dearborn) led the way with a time of 35:06 in his first career 8k race. Following the JV race, was the men's varsity race where the Lions proved to run another consistent team race. Freshman Luke Danis (Yellowsprings, OH/ Carroll), broke away at the four mile marker and finished with a time of 31:52. He was followed by Junior, Chad Mason (Addyston, OH/ Taylor) (32:39), Junior, Josh King (Danville, IL/ Danville)(32:42), and Senior, Kevin Polking (Cincinnati, OH/ St. Xavier) (33:01) all finishing right behind each other.
The men's team showed strong consistency and perseverance in what proved to be a very hot race day. The men will hope to continue their strong team running in their next meet, the Mount St. Joseph Invitational on Friday, September 22.
