On Saturday, March 31st The Lions traveled to Hanover College for the Hanover Invitational. The men finished in 9th place overall thanks to strong performances all around.
Sophomore Tre'on Taylor (Orlando, FL/ Winter Park) had a standout day with his performances in both the 100 M and 200 M dashes. Taylor finished 4th in the 100 M in a time of 11.39 and 5th in the 200 M in a time of 23.27. Junior Drew Stark (Cincinnati, OH/ Roger Bacon) also ran well in the 110 M hurdles and the 400 hurdles. Stark ran a 58.47 in the 400 M hurdles and 16.98 in the 110 M hurdles putting him in 4th and 6th place respectively. The final individual athlete to place top 8 was senior Kevin Polking (Cincinnati, OH/ St. Xavier) who finished 8th in the 3000 M steeplechase in a time of 12:35.97.
The men's relay teams ran very well with 2 teams finishing in the top 8. The 4 x 400 M relay team consisting of: Drew Stark (Cincinnati, OH/ Roger Bacon), Tre'on Taylor (Orlando, FL/ Winter Park), Chad Mason (Cincinnati, OH/ Taylor), and Gunner Froelicher (Alexandria, KY/ Campbell Co.) finished 4th in a time of 3:35.06. The 4 x 100 M relay team made up of: Gunner Froelicher (Alexandria, KY/Campbell Co.), Tre'on Taylor (Orlando, FL/ Winter Park), Cedric Woods (Fairfield, OH/ Fairfield High School), and De'Andro Atmodimedjo (Coral Springs, FL/ Coral Glades) ran a time of 44.67 which put them into 6th place.
The team had strong individual and team performances despite some very strong competition. The team plans to continue to improve and prepare for the next meet on Saturday, March 7th at Wilmington University.
