The Basics:

The Lions traveled to Defiance College to take on the Yellow Jackets. The first half ended with the the Mount leading 2-1. The Lions were able to secure another conference victory with a final score of 3-2 over Defiance.

How it Happened:

The Lions traveled up to Defiance College to finish up the trio of Mount competition's taking place against the Yellow Jackets. Defiance was able to get a very early goal against the Lions  and they were able to hold onto that lead for about ten minutes when the Mount's Seth Freppon (Cold Spring, KY / Newport Central Catholic) scored an unassisted goal to bring the game back to an even competition. Another quick seven minutes later Freppon received an electric pass from Cameron Willis (Cincinnati, OH / La Salle) to give the Lions their first lead of the game. The Yellow Jackets went on the attack for the rest of the first half but the Lions were able to hold strong and go into halftime with a 2-1 lead.

As the second half started the Lions were committed to keeping the lead and taking home a win. The 75th minute of the game was a busy one for both sides. The Mount's C. Willis received a pass from Alonzo Garcia Alvarez (Cleves, Ohio / Harrison) to bring the lead to two goals. The next play the Yellow Jackets took it right back and got one past our pride of Lions and brought the score back to a one goal match, with the score at 3-2. The Lions fought to keep the lead while Defiance fought to take  the lead away but the Mount was the team that came out of the competition victorious with the final score of 3-2.

Lion Hearted Performance:

The Lion hearted performance of this game goes to Freppon and C. Willis. Freppon score the Lions first two goals for the Mount giving them the halftime lead and gave him his 9th goal for the season which makes him tied for first place in the HCAC goals in the season. C. Willis is the second Lion hearted performance because he was the Lion that secured the win for the Mount with his late in the game goal.
