Lions get a big victory in overtime on Senior Night

Location:

Schueler Field(Cincinnati, OH)

The Basics:

The Lions hosted the Beavers of Bluffton University on Schueler Field to celebrate senior day in a conference matchup. The first half ended with the beavers leading 1-0. The Lions came back to tie the game 1-1 at the end of regulation. The game ended 2-1 in the Mount's favor ending overtime.

How it Happened:

The first half started with each team taking their shots and trying to be the first to take the lead. The Beavers were the first team to find the back of the net within the first ten minutes of the game. The Lions tied the Beavers for shots in the first half but could not even the score.

The second half started and the Lions were trying to tie the game and the Beavers were trying to hold the lead. The Mount spent most of the second half taking shot after shot but to no success. Until the moment that Zachary Tegge (Cincinnati, Ohio / LaSalle) got a magical connection from Seth Freppon (Cold Spring, KY / Newport Central Catholic) bringing the score to 1-1 in the 76th minute of the game. Neither team was able to take the lead in the remaining 13 minutes so the game went into overtime.

In the first overtime the Mount had all the momentum on their side and within three minutes Sergio Dole (West Harrison, IN / Oldenburg Academy) was able to bump the ball right past the goalie. That gives Dole his first collegiate goal and what a way to make your mark but with a goal in overtime to get a senior night victory.

Lion Hearted Performance:

The Lion hearted performance of this game goes to Tegge and Dole. Tegger for scoring the goal to take the team into overtime and Dole for scoring the overtime goal to secure the win for the Lions.
