Lions face the Yellow Jackets in final match of the season

The Basics:

The Mount traveled up to Defiance, Ohio to take on the Yellow Jackets on Saturday. Defiance stole momentum early with a goal at the 11 minute mark. In the 17 minute Defiance found the net again making the score at half, 2-0. The Lions possessed the ball well, creating 27 total shots for the game. The Yellow Jackets scored two more times in the second half, bringing the final score to 4-0.

How it Happened:

Defiance struck first with a quick goal, and another that followed. Senior Cody Hacker (Cleves, OH/Harrison) recorded a yellow card in the 14 minute. The Lions put up more shots in the first half with 14 compared to Defiance's four, but with nothing to show. The Yellow Jackets scored quickly in the second half with a goal at the 51 minute mark. The Lions, refusing to be deterred, continued firing shots at the net. Defiance found the net in the 61 minute, growing their lead to 4-0. Alex Gross (Cincinnati, OH / Oak Hills) and Joseph Glisson (Cincinnati, OH / Anderson) both recorded yellow cards as well for the night.

Standouts:

The Lions defense allowed eleven attempts at the net.  The hustle from the back line was in display stopping multiple runs from the Yellow Jackets.

The Lions finished their final game of the 2017-18 campaign against Defiance. They finished the year with a (5-11-3) record overall and (2-6-1) in HCAC play.
